Tea Drinkers Have Less Stress

If you are a tea drinker, you already know how wonderful a hot cuppa can make you feel. But, did you know that research has shown that tea drinkers have less stress?

It seems as if everyone is looking for ways to reduce stress. Whenever I hear of a new way to reduce stress, I’m all over it. I test it out, I get my family and friends to jump on board and we delve into the newest stress-reducing suggestions. Haha, as I’m writing this I’m realizing that the whole testing and jumping description really seems counterintuitive to reducing stress…

After the testing, and the talking, and the altering of these stress busting maneuvers, I figure out what’s best and I keep it in my life. Then, I tell you about it, and you decide whether it fits with your lifestyle and needs.

Drinking tea is something that pretty much …

Thanks for joining me for another edition of 10 Things Making Me Smile This Week.  Each week I find so many things that make me excited, and I just want to share them with everyone, but then ultimately, I only share them with a few friends and family. I’ve been taking it easy this week while I’m healing from my knee surgery. The hardest part is making sure I don’t do too much. It’s so easy to do too much when the weather starts to get so nice outside. Here in Manhattan, all of the tree beds are filled with tulip buds about to open and all of the flower shops have buckets and buckets of spring blooms …

Well, spring has finally sprung here in New York. One of my favorite things about spring is that the farmers markets get so colorful and all of the awesome vegetables that I love so much start to pile high in the stands and in the wooden crates. Artichokes, asparagus, fresh herbs… it’s like heaven to me.

Last year, I joined a community vegetable food share, and while it was fun …

The weather gave us a tease here in New York this week — it was so nice out and even the crocus buds were poking through the ground in the tree beds along the city streets. But here it is winter again… brrrrrrr…. it’s windy and it’s cold out! Even though I am not a huge fan of the cold, I do love the whole blanky-on-the-couch-with-a-hot-cuppa-something. So, life is good. …

Healing Benefits Of Shilajit

Everyone should know about the healing benefits of shilajit. Read on to learn why you probably need to add this amazing substance to your diet.

I first learned about the healing benefits of shilajit many years ago. Always being one who is excited to try out a new wellness product, I bought some. I tried it. And then, I never used it again. I am very rarely put off by the taste of foods, herbs, or supplements. I can eat anything. Except papaya. I cannot eat papaya. But that’s a whole other story…

Until shilajit. When I tried it years ago, I could not get past the taste. Nobody was more surprised than I was. So I tried to mask the taste by putting tiny amounts of this healing wonder into my smoothies, but that didn’t work either because I felt it ruined the taste of my smoothies.  So, I …

How To Make The Perfect Cup Of Hot Tea At Home

Tea is healing. And it’s delicious. Here’s how to make the perfect cup of hot tea at home.

Even die-hard coffee drinkers are turning to tea now. Tea has become an “in” drink. I think that this is partly because the wellness industry has brought the healing power of tea to the forefront and partly because there are just so many options when it comes to tea.

Here in New York City, there are tea shops popping up in many neighborhoods where coffee houses used to dominate the scene.

With tea, you can pick your favorite flavor and you can choose the leaf with the health benefit you need at the very moment you are preparing your tea. And, tea drinkers have less stress!

Here’s How To Make The Perfect Cup Of Hot Tea At Home

1. Use Filtered Water

Fill your teapot with filtered water. If you don’t …

It’s still winter here in New York, but I’m seeing signs of spring. Bicycles everywhere. This is one sign. Everywhere I turn, there are pretty colored bicycles. Central Park is filled with people just zipping around on bikes. But, because it’s New York City, there are also unicycles and elliptical bikes and tandem bikes and arm-crank bikes too. Another thing that screams spring to me is artichokes. When artichokes start …

I just got back from Mexico last night. The beach, the margaritas, the food… all so relaxing. We all need to recharge a bit sometimes and for me, going to a beautiful resort with a blue ocean and white sand is the best way to decompress and get my strength back. Don’t get me wrong… I love New York City… but balance is everything!

Here are 10 things making me

I never used to think of myself as a winter person. I lived in the suburbs most of my life and winter meant driving on ice, lots of shoveling, scraping ice off of windshields, and living through months of dirty snow mounds everywhere.

That was then. The photo you see above is now. Now that I live in New York City and I have Central Park as my backyard, I …
