If there’s one liquid you need to keep in your pantry and your fridge at all times, it’s coconut water. Read on to learn 5 ways coconut water can improve your life…
Why Should You Listen To Me?
My passion is helping you heal yourself with food and herbs. It’s truly my calling. When I was studying for my Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine, I knew that all of these amazing tenets of Eastern Medicine could be applied to food and used as everyday healing agents for so many people. I knew that if I combined what I was learning about the properties of food and herbs with what I already knew from my chef’s training, it would be life-changing.
And it is. My training in both Eastern and Western medicine, combined with my obsession with food and cooking, has given me a unique skillset that has helped so many people. And I want to help you. Nothing aggravates me more than knowing that these tools exist but that so many of you have not been taught them.
Everyone should know how to heal themselves with food and herbs. This should not be a secret.
If you eat the right foods for your unique body and circumstances, you can heal yourself. All you need is the correct information. And I’m here to give it to you.
Food really is medicine!
You Need To Be Drinking Coconut Water Now
There are some ingredients that are so healing and so easy to add into your diet, that there is absolutely no reason not to start immediately. Coconut water is one of those ingredients. It’s readily available in most markets, it comes in a variety of sizes and flavors, it has a long shelf life, and it can really heal you from the inside out.
Many of my clients like me to go through their pantries and their refrigerators. I do this with glee and relish. We toss out all of the items that aren’t necessary or healing and we restock with the things that will truly heal the body, mind, and spirit. And, every single time I restock for someone, I make sure there is a variety of coconut water products in both the fridge and the pantry.
The reason for this is simple. Coconut water is a healing liquid. It’s amazingly easy to use, and it is the perfect base for smoothies, smoothie bowls, and even cocktails. Yup, that’s right… cocktails.
In Chinese medicine, we use coconut to strengthen the body, reduce swelling, and stop bleeding. Coconut kills viruses, bacteria, and parasites. It’s good for all types of infections and viruses in the body, including the flu, bronchitis, tapeworms, urinary tract infections, and herpes. And equally as important, it helps you keep your mind sharp and it makes it easier for you to focus.
And, because coconut water comes from coconuts, each time you drink this amazing liquid, you reap the benefits of the coconut.

After you read the list below, continue scrolling for some simple recipes that you can make with coconut water right now. They will easily fit right into your life…
1. Increased Athletic Performance And Energy
Coconut water has one of the highest amounts of electrolytes of any liquid. So, for every one of you out there who thinks energy drinks filled with artificial ingredients and chemicals are the thing to reach for during or after exercise, think again. There’s no reason to do something as healthy as strengthening your cardiovascular system or building your muscles and then to negate the wonderful effects of your effort by reaching for an orange or red colored energy drink that’s filled with sugar, artificial coloring, and chemicals. You deserve to treat yourself better than that.
Coconut water mimics human blood plasma, making it the perfect way to re-energize and heal yourself. In some scary situations, coconut water has even been used in IVs to rehydrate people. Just think about that. Such healing power in the simple coconut! And you are not using it?
2. Reduced Stress And Better Sleep
Because of the electrolyte composition in coconut water, this amazing liquid can help you deal better with stress. And who doesn’t need help with this? Coconut water contains magnesium, which helps lower stress, relaxes your mind, and can promote better sleep. If you are like me and you are an over-thinker, then magnesium can really help you out. So, the next time you reach for a beverage, or make a smoothie, make sure you replace your water or your smoothie base with coconut water. And just breathe…
Research is now showing that coconut water can help with low levels of anxiety and depression. It’s certainly a no-brainer to add some coconut water to your routine.
3. Increased Immune System
Coconut helps kill viruses and bad bacterial in your body. It’s what I call an “A” food — it’s anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial. When you combine coconut water with other immune-boosting ingredients, you are giving your body a real chance to stay healthy even when everyone else around you is sick.
If I feel a little run down, I’ll mix my coconut water with blueberries, ginger, mint, or whatever I have on hand to help boost my immune system.
4. Weight Loss
Whenever a client comes to me for a weight management program, I always make sure to include many recipes and food ideas that use coconut water. Smoothies and smoothie bowls are delicious and can be very healthy. But, when the base of these deliciously refreshing recipes is made from milk (even non-dairy milk), they can be fattening. I’m all for using healthy fats. In fact, I insist on using them, so I love almond, coconut, hemp, pecan, and cashew milks. BUT, if you are trying to lose weight and you like to include a bunch of smoothies and smoothie bowls in your diet, then coconut water is the answer for you.
Coconut water contains about 50 calories per serving and it’s almost completely fat-free. Naturally fat-free, it’s not manipulated to get it to be fat free. So, if you use coconut water as a base for your drinks, smoothies, etc, then we can include the healthy fats that you need in your lunches and dinners in more hunger-satisfying ways.
5. Outer Beauty And Smooth Digestion
The state of your skin is directly related to the health of your digestive system. If your gut is healthy, your skin will be healthy. This is a really important concept to understand. When your digestion is not running smoothly or when it’s sluggish and your intestines are full and backed up more than they should be, not only are you uncomfortable on the inside, but it shows on the outside.
Acne, rashes, wrinkles, sagging skin, etc. can all be traced to the health of your gut.
Coconut water is a great friend to your digestive system. It can help detoxify your intestines, relieve uncomfortable bloating, ease nausea and soothe the lining of your stomach. This digestive fix will show on your skin.
Coconut water can help keep you looking youthful and healthy. There’s nothing that makes you look older than dry, crepe-y looking, or sagging skin on your face and your body. Coconut water is so hydrating that it really helps your skin maintain moisture and tone. It can even help maintain the strength of the body’s tissues.
Yes, coconut water is truly an anti-aging ingredient. It keeps you healthy and youthful on the inside and out.
Important Caution: We all need to drink a lot of water on a daily basis, so don’t replace your regular filtered drinking water with coconut water. What I want you to do is to continue to drink a healthy amount of water, but also add coconut water into your diet, so it’s an add-on, not a water replacement. Also, if you have kidney or urinary health problem, you must ask your doctor before adding coconut water into your diet.
